Someone very special has left us.

This website is a place where all those who were privileged enough to have been a part of, or even just touched his life, can share their experiences and rejoice in the magic that was Ron Guy.

Choices by Ron Guy:
Life will give you choices and they'll come by every day
Do you gamble all your riches maybe hold the cards to play
Maybe say just what your thinking, or just wait another day
Some choices will damn you and some will set you free
It's often hard to do the right thing when its easy to let things be
But if it feels right don't fail it and if it feels wrong walk away.

Life will give you choices and they'll come by every day
Can you take it, will you keep it, can you make it go away
Will it hurt you, can it help you, can you cope another day
Sometimes people all around you look to you to show the way
When you're reaching out for answers and don't know what to say
If it feels right don't fail it and if it feels wrong walk away.

Life will give you choices and they'll come by every day
People with dark voices that can hold you in their sway
Whispers that can tell you wrong is right and that's ok
It's up to you to think things through there's no other way
Your heart can light the darkest night and save the darkest day
So if it feels right don't fail it, if it feels wrong walk away.

Rondini, the only man I know who could organise a team to re-roof his house and find they all suffered from vertigo, fortunately I arrived home from sea and got the job, ever after that Ron called me "Spider". Also can't forget he was on the panel of judges that awarded Ann & I 2nd prize in the famous talent contest - a pair of glittery deely-boppers, we still have them somewhere!! Life won't be the same without Ron

I first met Ron twelve years ago at a bonfire party at Dave Mcgrogans house. Ron if I remember correctly provided the largest firework. This,I learned as years went on seemed to be the norm. Some years later a well lubricated Ron and Fred were supervising the firework display in our small back garden , It was decided the rocket to be launched needed a more secure launch pad ie my garden furniture. The rocket was tied to one of my garden chairs.some minutes later it was launched,in the process it nearly demolished my conservatory , the rush for cover led to a stampede on people trying to get into the house for cover.Very scarey at the time but also typical and very funny to look back on.Anyone who knew Ron will remember the way he would look at you directly when either listening or talking to you.The first time I ( Glo )met him I commented on his lovely eyes,I think that only goes on to prove that the eyes are the window to the soul .Steve and I have many fond memories of Ron ,he will be greatly missed God Bless xx

I will always remember the time Yug was messing around on Rob Lawton's skateboard at Ed and Phil's one afternoon. He was a pleased as punch to be skating up and down the patio, dressed in all the 'right' gear (elbow & knee pads and a helmet!), until he flew off the skateboard and landed on his back with his legs in the air!! So funny. I'll also remember words he said to me when i'd recently come out of intensive care, it was his words that made me feel better about myself. A wonderful 'guy' who will be really missed lots.

Rondo / Yuggie was immense - he was to use his own word "splendid". Wonderful memories go back over 40 years beginning with Arndale Road (where his Dad greeted everyone from his vantage point on the loo), the Road to Marrakesh with Ian (the film didn't compare), singing Hi Ho through the streets of Zellum Zee, Ron's amazing double backward somersault on skis in France (we were too helpless with laughter to help him), the Hogmanays in Aberdeen (where Ron & Karen's rendition of Under the Boardwalk is a legend in its own right). The list is endless....... Huge and heartfelt thanks to both for your friendship, for all the laughter and joy and for all the good times, and for those to come, Karen. You are both stars. Ron was an amazing light in our lives - shine on Yuggie xxx

One of the last and most recent memories I have of Ronnie was when my wife was on her hen party in Liverpool in July this year and all the guys went off to play golf, we then went on for a meal afterwards and we all just spent the whole evening listening to Ronnie and my Uncle Ken's stories from when they were young - they were very funny and great to listen to. Ronnie was great company and great to be around, he had a wide range of knowledge and you could talk to him about anything. We will miss you deeply Ron and rest in peace. Good night and sweet dreams. As I write this message and the pictures scroll by so many wonderful memories of Ron come to mind. That big smile that endorsed the quick wit and humor we all loved. From my time in Shell, and when Ron was my Manger in System Service, he always made the work place fun. On one occasion Ron gave his staff water pistols so we could vent our work frustrations by soaking the management, Ron sat in is office all afternoon in a rain coat wedged under an umbrella. Ron also gave out good advice like “Never eat Jacobs crackers when running a Marathon” a mistake Ron made during a race that had him spitting crumbs for several miles. Once when traveling to work we had a head banging session to ZZ-Top, years later the same scene was in Wayne’s World, such was the vision of Ron's humor. The legend that is Ron Guy will be forever in our hearts.

The list of memories I have with Ron ( and Karen) in are endless. Here are a few of mine: the Miss Piggy soap - yes it was me that used that soap in your bathroom (as if you didn't already know) - I thought I was great at telling porkies - how wrong was I !! The famous digestive dunking mug - I have a pottery friend who is 'having a go' as we speak. That infernally long walk with Dad, and Fiona that took us through a field of cows that chased us (I was about 5 years old and 3 foot nothing and pertrified) I have a photo of me "trying" to drag Ron through the field and he's strolling, unphased in Ron's very calm way.(Will dig out said photo and post on the site) Spaceman spiff - no more to be said and finally Fleetwood Mac. as a child, lying in bed listening to Mum, Dad Ronnie and Karen hooting with laughter downstairs and Fleetwood Mac drifting through the rafters - the safest I have ever felt. Life will catergorically not be the same without Ron in it and I miss you deeply. God bless Ron, sleep well XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Ron and I were Service Engineers for Honeywell asked to fly to Naples to work on a ship. Day after Boxing day at Manchester Airport Karen and Gwelda seeing us off and Karen handing me two tupperware dishes full of trifle "In case you get peckish" Trifle? don't ask me, those two were well suited. I am sorry Karen but I dropped the bowls in the middle of Frankfurt Airport so we never got to eat it. What a trip, we were supposed to be there for two days and were there for a fortnight including having our hotel rooms broken into, someone firing a gun through the Hotel window and even taking a taxi ride up Vesuvius. In all that time with all the problems and feeling homesick Ron never failed to get me laughing. Although I have not seen Ron a lot in recent years it was always a real pleasure to meet him when our paths crossed and he will be missed so much by all who new him.

This is hard, too many thoughts and stories, but it was the goals Rondo achieved that are most memorable, two in particular. Ireland in April 2004 at Dog (should have been Dogs) Bay House - another wind up may be! and last New Years Eve, which brought old friends from afar together for a great evening. Mrs Karen Guy has to be mentioned for her unquestioning love, loyalty and utter dedication to the wellbeing of Rondo. When he was taken ill in Spain earlier this year she was prepared to drive him home to keep a promise. Rondo loved his food! we nearly fell out over it "you've broken the wall" of our shared, yes shared, Gail mousse. I have many nicknames but Rondo was the only one who called me Poohski. This world without him is not going to be the same.

You don’t get the chance to make friends like Ron Guy and Karen very often. Both Frank and I knew these villains separately before they got together about 40 years ago. In the years since I moved to Scotland I didn’t see Karen and Ron nearly as often as I would have liked, but when I did it was so easy to pick up the threads. That for me will be an abiding statement of my friendship with them. Ron was a great raconteur, humourist and I, [ like most of you ], have too many ‘war stories’ to record here. For me, his presence hasn’t gone …he has passed over… but not passed away.

It is about 30 years ago now since we met during a Honeywell training in Bracknell. As a three weeks course is a long time Ron invited me over the weekend to his and Karens house. We had a splendid time and Ron taught me Waterskiing on the River Weaver. ....really not easy. The year after I took revenge when Karen and Ron came to Austria in April. I put them on skis and gave them their first skiing lesson....Not easy too. We had lots of fun. He was an ambitious student. So we met several times during the years. Unfortunately we couldn`t make it to meet during the last years. I am very sad about that now but you cannot change the past.... Ronnie I am sure you are around Karen and maybe (if Karen will not recognize) sometimes around us too. We will see again!

By the look of these messages we could write a book. I have some very personal memories of Ron and Karen fighting this long battle with cancer when he has looked destroyed but when asked how he felt he would invariably say he was fine, what an inspiration. We blacked out Anfield together burning old cable, we bought old caravans that fell to pieces, an old car that the engine fell out of and I once towed him in a Citroen 2CV at 60 mph with about 4 foot of tow rope. Mostly we laughed . A chunk of my humour has gone with Ron and I will miss him dearly, irreplaceable.

I`ve lost a great friend, but he has left me with a lifetime of memorys and I thank him for that. * * * * * * * * Mind you, having said all that, he wasn`t so great at everything he did!! I never thought he would make it as an electrician after he did what was probably his first "foreigner" while serving his time with Manweb. He fitted a light to the outside toilet of the house where I grew up in Molyneux Rd and expertly fitted the switch.......UPSIDE DOWN!!. My mum told him "don`t worry son, it`s better than the paraffin lamp, and we`ll soon get used to it". Nice one Yug.

CARS Ron phoned all excited, youve got to get round and see what I've got. I rushed round to find he had bought a blue fibreglass cigar tube with perspex slots for windows, no ventilation or suspension and the biggest alloy wheels you've ever seen. Lets go, strapped into the bucket seats you could just about move your eyebrows. We set off, it was fast, we could'nt see a thing through the steamed up windows and the fibreglass falling from the roof every time we hit a bump. We got back covered in fibreglass and if getting in was difficult it was'nt as bad as getting out, I rolled onto the pavement, Ron into the road, the tears were tripping us. What a laugh, what a car, WHAT A MATE. You'll always be with me. ROAR
